Eagles Nest Update: Week of June 23rd
Here we go Eagles......What a great week at the Eagles Nest!
We kicked the week off with morning practices and some great swimming at our friendship meet against Windsor Great Park. We kept rolling with Terrific Tuesday and a Food Friday that left many birds with big smiles! The Parent Crews are doing such a wonderful job! Thank you especially to the Spirit Crew who helped the Eagles finish off the week by leading the QL Eagles to a gold medal in the QL day float category!

DETAILS for Monday’s FIRST HOME swim meet:
Who: Queens Lake Eagles vs. Powhatan Secondary Seastars
Where: QL Eagles Pool
Theme: Olympic theme, USA Red, White and Blue
Arrival Time: 4:15 pm and we ask that swimmers arrive wearing their red team shirt
(*Team Picture will be taken at 4:45 sharp, staging for picture will begin at 4:30)
Parking: Please park in the upper grass field by the tennis courts
Concessions: Cash and Cards- (Menu attached) Thank you Concessions Crew!
Items swimmers need to bring: Swimsuit or jammers, goggles (extra pair if you have them), dry towel for each event, healthy snacks, water bottle/ gatorade, warm clothing (wet swimmers can get chilly when the sun goes down), maybe a few fun card games or blanket games. Coach Sandi has asked for no running or playing with balls and swimmers are not allowed on the playground area. All swimmers are requested to stay in the team area so they can be easily found for their events and cheer on their teammates.
Volunteering: QL EAGLE Parents, the volunteering has been effortless thus far! WOW. We need more volunteers for the home meet this Monday. (11 spots to be exact.) The home meets require more hands to get the job done. When spots are filled, it helps our meet coordinator to complete name tag assignments. At least 1 parent from each family is requested to volunteer at the meet. When you arrive, be sure to check in with our Meet Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Cleary, who will confirm your assignment and give you a name tag. Thanks again QL parents for all the help!!!! Please sign up ASAP on the VOLUNTEER HERE MEET SIGNUP, if you have not done so already.
Weather Watch: Weather is always being monitored and meet directors will keep the safety of swimmers as a priority.
QL EAGLE T-Shirts:T-shirts have arrived and the Spirit Crew will be passing them out at practice on Monday morning by family. All others will be given out before the meet. PLEASE have your swimmers wear the shirts to tomorrow's team picture.
TEAM PICTURES:
As previously stated, a team picture will be taken prior to the meet tomorrow. Parents, we would really appreciate your help by observing the timing frame we have set up for arrival so that we can follow NJ Hubbards direction to line up the swimmers quickly, so that we minimize the time the kids are on the pool deck in the sun. Also, this will allow for warm-ups to begin at their scheduled time, 5:00 pm. Be on the lookout for more information about individual swimmer photos to be taken later in the season with Jennifer Bulich Photography, one of our great swim team moms. (Information forthcoming.)
BIRDIE BUDDIES:
Birdie Buddies have been matched up and Caoch Maddie will be giving you your buddy name this week at Terrific Tuesday with the swimmer ribbons from the meet!
OTHER NEWS:
- Practice Reminder: Coach Sandi has asked for swimmers to please bring water bottles to every practice.
- Away swim meet coming up Monday June 24th @ Kingspoint- Please RSVP your simmer and volunteer today on the MEET SIGNUP.
- Please notice the banners hanging at our Eagles Nest. These are the awesome sponsors that have been so generous with our team! Please be sure to support their businesses whenever possible.
