Birdie Buddies Guidelines
What are Birdie Buddies?
Birdie Buddies are where older, more experienced swimmers pair up with younger swimmers to help them out at swim meets and other swim team events. The goal of the program is to increase team spirit while helping younger, inexperienced swimmers enjoy swimming fast!
Older Swimmer Responsibilities:
- Making sure their little buddy has their events on their hand
- Putting together goodie bags for their buddies at swim meets
- Cheering on their buddies at the swim meets
- Making sure their buddies are where they are supposed to be at swim meets
- Ready for warmups
- At cheers
- Behind the blocks for their events
Younger Swimmer Responsibilities:
- Putting together goodie bags for their buddies at swim meets
- Cheering on their big buddy at the swim meet.
Rules for the Goody Bag:
The goody bag is intended to be a small means of cheering on Birdie Buddies that will be exchanged at the swim meets. We recommend putting together the bags with handmade notes or crafts; small snacks; etc. There is a strict budget limit…please do not spend more than $5 on a goody bag. Some of the older swimmers have multiple birdie buddies so we want to keep the costs down.
Most older swimmers have more than one buddy.
Younger swimmers are only responsible for their big buddy
Please keep under the $5 budget
